Biography
My art studies began in 1966 with night courses in drawing at the Perth Technical college with a Mrs. Lee and later with Vim and Rhoda Boissevain. In 1968 I was encouraged to take up full time studies at the W.A. Institute of Technology. My teachers at this time were Ian Wroth, George Haynes, Hue Childe and Arthur Russell and my major studies in Sculpture were overseen by Nola Farman and Ken Hannan. After the first year I won the Jacksons Drawing prize and a scholarship for further studies,
In 1970 I graduated with a certificate in Fine Art, majoring in Sculpture.
After travelling around Europe for one year I entered Nedlands teachers college and graduated in 1972.
During my 32 years teaching I have expanded my studies to include Textiles with Penny Whitchurch and Painting, with teachers such as Leon Pericles and Brian McKay.
I am now retired from teaching and continue to draw and paint and on an odd occasion play with three dimensional sculptural textiles in the form of cloth dolls.
Recently I won the acrylic/oil section in the RRA plein air competition with a painting called 'A Peace of the Present'
