Biography

My interest in art began as early as Primary School.
My formal art education began at Perth Technical College in 1946 with subjects..Ticket writing, Commercial Art and Life studies. I have also studied with Bill Boisevain, Ivor Hunt and Fred Bergitch.
A five year apprenticeship in signwriting led to a variety of work positions, these included teaching as a Technical Education officer in Papua New Guinea and in the art departments at Rockingham and Northam Technical schools.
Later I worked as Artist/Designer and progressing to works manager for a Neon Sign Company, also with various companies in Sydney and Melbourne. Some time was spent Live on Camera TV cartooning and storytelling with TVW Channel 7. Also working as Graphic Artist for Channel Seven, Imperial Printing Co. and Gibneys Art Studio.
For 30 years I owned and operated Rockingham Signwriters.
I am a life member of the Australian Sign and Graphics Association.
I received an OAM in 1981 and Citizen of the year in 1991.
On retirement I have built an ART GALLERY and STUDIO on my property at 78 SILVERSMITH STREET, WELLARD, WEST AUSTRLIA,
where I paint and frame my own works.
