Low Tide at St. Ives

Biography

My interest in oil painting goes back to the 1960s. I am self taught apart from 2 years at night school – 1959-61 at St. Martins School of Art and the Chelsea School of Art, in the UK.

In Australia I worked for General Motors Holden at Fishermans Bend where I became part of a team making full size prototypes of the Kingswood, Statesman de Ville, Torana and Gemini, in clay, plaster, wood, fiberglass etc.
Later in West Australia working with fiberglass boats, yachts, like the 18 & 23 ft. Shark Cat & Windrush, 14ft. Catamaran and the 23ft. Day Sailor, also making dozens of moulds for birdbaths and large and small garden planters.

I have worked as a wood machinist in Northern Ireland, England, New Zealand and Australia.

I have undertaken several courses at the Fremantle Art Centre and the Potters Market, at OConnor West Australia for pottery, tile making, and lost wax casting techniques, and hand built ceramics.
More recently I have taken up wood turning and am a member of the Rockingham Wood Turners Club.
